Basketball helps young athletes develop far beyond the court. Through practices, games, and youth basketball training, kids improve coordination, agility, endurance, and teamwork. Participation in our youth basketball fitness programs and basketball camps also teaches perseverance, resilience, and communication skills. Most importantly, basketball provides a fun, safe, and supportive environment where children gain confidence, make friends, and cultivate a lifelong love of the sport.

CURRENT PROGRAMS

ZU Hoops

This isn’t your average rec league. ZU Hoops is Club OODAZU’s flagship youth basketball league — where real competition meets a world-class facility and the whole family has somewhere to be, not just somewhere to wait.

Players in 1st through 8th grade compete in age-appropriate divisions across six indoor courts, grouped by grade and skill level to keep games balanced, competitive, and fun for everyone. Coaches bring the energy, keep every kid involved, and make sure each game means something. And because it’s all indoors at Club OODAZU, there are no rainouts, no muddy fields, and no standing in a parking lot for an hour.

Fall 2026 is 10 weeks of Sunday games starting August 29th — one commitment a week, no practices, just basketball. Every ZU Hoops registration includes complimentary access to our Basketball Train & Play sessions on Thursday evenings, so your athlete can get extra reps and skill work between games at no additional cost. While your kid is on the court, you’re grabbing coffee at the cafe, getting a workout in at the adult gym, or watching from the elevated mezzanine. That’s the ZU Hoops difference.

Basketball Train & Play

Club OODAZU’s Youth Basketball Train & Play program gives athletes ages 6–17 a fun, structured environment to build skills, confidence, and a love for the game every Thursday evening.

Open to all skill levels — from beginners learning the fundamentals to competitive players looking for extra reps and live game time. Coaches tailor instruction to each athlete and group players by age and skill level to ensure the right challenge and development for everyone on the court.

Each 55-minute session follows a Train & Play model, blending skill development with structured gameplay to maximize learning and enjoyment.

Session Format:

  • Skill Training (25 min) — ball handling, passing, shooting, footwork, defense & basketball IQ
  • Structured Gameplay (30 min) — small-sided games and scrimmages applying skills in real game situations
